Since my Swedish-born father was a music professor, my early education was pretty much pre-determined. I was fortunate to receive most of my music education from him. He put a violin under my chin when I was three and began piano lessons when I was five. Voice instruction quickly followed. I continued my formal music education at San Jose State University where I graduated with a BA in French and English. On the side, I furthered my music experience in piano recitals, symphony orchestra, and summer opera choral work in the Bay area. As a classroom teacher in various grades in the Cupertino area, I was also able to organize children's choruses and drama/music during the academic years and summer programs. I received my certificate in Orff Instrumentation and Music for Minors. I began teaching music privately in Los Gatos and Santa Rosa as well as becoming a music consultant in private and public schools before moving up to the Tahoe Basin. I continued teaching in my studio and giving piano and orchestral concerts around the lake through Toccata and Sierra Nevada College.
My favorite pastimes are tennis, hiking, skiing, and biking. My husband and I also enjoy our fun Zar, an Italian rigid-inflatable boat that zips across the lake like a skateboard. At the moment I think it is the only one of its kind in Tahoe and continues to invite many curious glances and comments! We also love to create interesting meals for friends and family. At the moment we are pet-free, having lost our two amazing dogs and cats during the last four years but hope to change that next year. I really miss jogging with Kiwi, our super energetic Border collie.
